A roadrunner poses for a portrait in the Mojave Desert, California, USA.
Framed photographs of my six siblings and I adorned in 60s style outfits, hairdos and pointedly colorful eye glasses were prominently displayed in the home I grew up in. The happy memories of these photos, coupled with my newfound love of grandchildren and passion for nature drove me to purchase a digital camera. Little did I know just how much that camera would change my life! One photo after another, click after click; college classes, seminars, and months of photographing, downloading and posting prompted me to retire and see the world through a Nikon lens or two or three... What I have and continue to see and experience through a lens, or two or three is captured and shared in the photos posted by LM Manifold Photography on Facebook,...

Excellent detail here. My wife's uncle would bet people that he could catch a roadrunner by hand. He could.. The secret, let them fly three times, tire out, and then carefully pick up.
Lisa Manifold replied:
Wow!! I'll remember that... but, think I'll stick to "catching" with a camera.
Gary Richards

I must confess that for many years I did not give much attention to birds. In my childhood we had parakeets (blue and green) at our house and I liked them a lot. Maybe 4 years ago a canary showed up at my door and I kept it. That's how I fell in love with birds. I spent a lot of time reading about them and watching our national photographers' photos. There are so many. To identify them is a challenge. We also don't have roadrunners but I have read about this species. It's a very curious bird!
Lisa Manifold replied:
Thanks for sharing! Quite prehistoric in appearance. Fun to watch.
